Saimo Chahal of Bindmans LLP wins the Solicitor of the Year Award at the Law Society Excellence Awards

The exceptional achievements of Saimo Chahal, partner at Bindmans LLP, and Head of the Civil Liberties and Social Welfare team, have been recognised by the Law Society in its 2nd annual Excellence Awards.
The Law Society Excellence Awards recognise and reward the most outstanding practitioners in the legal profession.
Saimo Chahal, from leading human rights and civil liberties law firm Bindmans LLP, was awarded the Solicitor of the Year Award.
The judges were impressed by Saimo's cutting-edge work and use of the Human Rights Act, as well as her tenacity and commitment to her clients. Saimo is widely respected by peers, colleagues and clients alike and recognised as a leader in her field. Accolades from peers include describing Saimo as being in the “front rank of public lawyers “ a “real star “, “ superb” with “exceptional good sense and judgment” having “impressive legal knowledge” with the “ confidence to take hard legal points” whilst “never losing sight of the needs and interests of the clients whose welfare lies at the heart of her caseload “.The British Institute of Human Rights called her a ‘trail blazer’ for her cutting-edge work and use of the Human Rights Act. Saimo works on behalf of vulnerable and disadvantaged clients in difficult and usually precedent setting cases often making national headlines.
