Paralegal and Training Contract Opportunities with Bindmans
Paralegals are recruited throughout the year, based on the needs of the firms at any one time. Save in exceptional circumstances (where, for example, we are seeking someone urgently for a specific, time limited piece of work) all paralegal opportunities are subject to an open recruitment process and advertised on our website, together with those of the College of Law and Totally Legal.
We do not, at present, recruit people to work as trainee solicitors immediately upon joining the firm, nor do we consider CVs submitted to us by people seeking training contracts. However, the firm is very committed to providing opportunities for committed and talented people to qualify as solicitors and a significant number of our lawyers originally trained with us. Some paralegals are therefore taken on by the firm on the basis that they may be offered a training contract in the medium term (typically after one to two years’ paralegal work experience and upon the qualification of existing trainees at the firm). Paralegal vacancies of this kind will be identified as such whenever advertised.
There is no absolute guarantee that a paralegal in such a post will ultimately become a trainee: performance and skills are formally assessed once the person is working and the availability of an appropriate range of work within the firm when vacancies arise is also considered. Very occasionally other trainee vacancies arise within the firm. These are advertised internally.

Student Placements.
In 2010 the Firm will be running a student placement scheme offering experience within the work environment to Year 10 students. This year the firm can only offer four placements – we will review numbers for future years. The length of these placements will be set at one to two weeks and this will take place during the period May - August 2010.
