Crime, Fraud and Regulatory Partner, Tayab Ali, appears on Newsnight

1 min

Tayab Ali, partner in our Crime, Fraud and Regulatory team, appeared on Monday night’s edition of Newsnight, looking at the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Tayab serves as the Director of the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians. He appeared alongside Dame Margaret Hodge, Parliamentary Chair of the Jewish Labour movement, and Frank Lowenstein, former US Special Envoy for Middle East Peace under Barack Obama.

Tayab stressed the need to ‘not ignore the history’ of the conflict, and noted that as a lawyer, it was ‘very easy for him to condemn unlawful killing’ on both sides. He reflected: ‘If Israel keeps Gaza occupied, keeps the occupation in the way that it is, there is no chance for peace.’ Tayab also noted that what the region needs is for the world to impose ‘a rules-based accountability system [that] is applied equally for Palestinians and Israelis’.

Tayab is an internationally recognised and highly respected Solicitor Advocate whose practice encompasses criminal and civil/public law in both the UK and international jurisdictions.
