Tamsin Allen of Bindmans LLP awarded Lawyer of the Year 2014 by CorporateLiveWire

Tamsin Allen, Head of the Media and Information Law team at Bindmans LLP has won Lawyer of the Year 2014 in Media & Information Law (London, UK). 

Tamsin was presented with this award in light of her achievements, experience and accolades in 2014. Over the past year, Tamsin has represented the author whose memoir was banned following a decision of the Court of Appeal.  His case is now to be heard by the Supreme Court in January.  She represents Spirit Level Films in a potential judicial review of a decision not to allow a broadcast interview with a prisoner, and has continued to advise Lord Prescott in media related matters.  She also obtained substantial damages for actor Steve McFadden in a privacy claim against the Police and News Group Newspapers in relation to improper leaks of information by the police and phone hacking by NGN journalists.  She obtained another substantial pay-out from the Metropolitan Police for a client whose highly personal information was leaked to Police Officers to the News of the World newspaper.
