Permission granted for a judicial review of legal aid for inquests

A judicial review of the government’s policy on legal aid funding for inquests has been granted by the High Court. Joanna Letts was originally denied legal aid to be represented at a four-day inquest listed for January 2015. The Legal Aid Agency reviewed its decision and agreed to grant funding after issuing judicial review proceedings. Letts is represented by her lawyers Saimo Chahal QC (Hon) of Bindmans LLP and Chris Butler of Matrix Chambers. To read the full article please click here.
