Rachel Harger named The Times Lawyer of the Week

Rachel Harger of Bindmans’ Actions Against Police and State team has been named as The Times lawyer of the week.

Rachel acted for Patsy Stevenson and Dania Al-Obeid in successful civil claims against the Metropolitan Police, arising from their arrests and forceful removal from a vigil for Sarah Everard in 2021.

In her interview with The Times, published today, Rachel talks about the biggest hurdle in this case, as well as her commitment to social justice and the importance of keeping legal aid centres available to local communities.

Our Actions Against Police and State team empower people to hold the police and other detaining authorities to account for abuses of power, unlawful operations and acts, and misconduct.

Rachel works on a wide range of claims including false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, discrimination, misuse of private information and breaches of the Human Rights Act and Data Protection Act. She regularly represents bereaved families during inquests and other related proceedings where individuals have died whilst in police custody or under the care of mental health services.
