Press conference: British Parliamentarians travel to Kazakhstan as part of investigation into the treatment and detention of Zhanbolat Mamay

Following a week spent in Kazakhstan meeting with witnesses and members of civil society, lawyers from Bindmans LLP and Senior British Parliamentarians, together forming the Inquiry Commission, provided updates on the case in a press conference, held live in Almaty on Friday 20 January 2023.

The independent non-governmental Inquiry Commission, launched in October 2022, is carrying out a human rights investigation into the detention and treatment of Zhanbolat Mamay, a popular politician, journalist and leader of the ‘unregistered’ opposition Democratic Party in Kazakhstan.
