Carmen is a trainee solicitor in our Public Law and Housing team.
Carmen works on a wide range of housing and community care matters. She has a background in legal aid housing work, and experience of defending possession and injunction proceedings, challenging homelessness decisions, and taking action against landlords where the tenant’s home is in disrepair.
She has a particular strength in housing cases which overlap with a need for community care services, where these services are needed in order to achieve a successful outcome on the housing matter.
Carmen acts for clients that lack capacity to litigate, often taking instructions from the Official Solicitor.
Carmen has also gained experience working on cases relating to fire safety regulations, by working under the supervision of solicitors within the team.
Prior to joining Bindmans, Carmen worked as a paralegal in the housing department of a legal aid law firm in South London. She also has experience within the third sector of promoting the rights of those who have recently migrated to the UK.
