The Migration Museum is launched at the Workshop

1 min

Alison Stanley and Saimo Chahal (QC) Hon attended the launch of the Migration Museum at The Workshop yesterday evening.  As immigration remains at the top of the political agenda, the Migration Museum shows that it is not a modern phenomena: people have migrated to this country for centuries, and for different reasons – to better themselves, to escape from persecution, and some against their will.  This important new project, led by Barbara Roche, the former Minister of State for Immigration is working towards a new A-list national museum for the UK, examining how the movement of people has shaped Britain through the ages.

At the launch, chaired by Barbara Roche, inspirational speakers (Robert Winder, Lord Alf Dubs and George Alagia OBE) spoke passionately about their support for the Migration Museum which will continue to stage a series of events and exhibitions in their new home.

Sir Geoffrey Bindman QC (Hon) and Saimo Chahal QC (Hon) are Distinguished Friends of the Migration Museum.
