Why choose Bindmans for cladding and fire safety issues?
Our cases relate to homes and properties of all sizes – from small houses to tower block developments and everything in-between.
Our clients include:
- Grenfell Tower: We have the privilege to act for a very large number of bereaved and survivors in the Government Inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire and led the successful claim for damages.
- Richmond House: More than 60 people lost their homes and possessions in the Richmond House fire. The building had missing cavity barriers and other fire safety defects. We brought a High Court claim for damages of more than £3 million for residents against the developer Berkeley Group PLC and the freeholder, MTVH. A negotiated settlement was reached with both.
- The Exchange: More than 70 residents of the Exchange development in Bermondsey had to live with unsafe cladding and insulation and missing cavity barriers as well as other fire safety defects. We acted for the residents and brought a High Court claim for works to remedy the defects and damages against the freeholder Notting Hill Genesis.
- Spectrum Building: Christian Hansen represents the residents of these flats in Dagenham, which were destroyed by fire in August 2024.
Christian Hansen is a brilliant housing lawyer who specialises in complex civil claims. Paul Ridge is a veteran in the space and has represented the Grenfell Tower victims exceptionally well.
